Sometimes when dealing with China you can get bogged down in a morass of articles and advice telling you what you should and should not do.
Sure China is a complex place, and definitely a different space than the US, or the UK. Many of the Marketing, Advertising and PR strategies that you take for granted aren’t going to work.
For example Facebook, Twitter and Youtube are blocked. That’s three popular strategies out the window straightaway.
However, this doesn’t mean you need to get overelaborate. Something that’s funny, awe-inspiring, cool, or innovative will often still work across cultures. Equally a simple gesture like a video piece to camera can still resonate. It also still makes a difference if you keep to basic 101 techniques like responding to and engaging your audience. Great content is always a win.
Do your research, plan and execute.
